Psychological Services for Homeschoolers, Unschoolers, and Others Outside the Mold.
I’m a licensed psychologist, but I’m also an experienced homeschooler. I homeschooled my two children from kindergarten through 8th grade, and in co-op classes I’ve taught everything from kindergarten geography to high school psychology.
You shouldn’t have to explain or defend homeschooling when you’re seeking help with a learning problem. You shouldn’t have to sift through recommendations designed for school settings, trying to figure out how to adapt them to your family.
I’m here to help.
Let’s collaborate to understand your child’s unique strengths and struggles. As a homeschooler, you’ve observed your child more closely than any teacher can. You have a lot of rich information to provide, if a clinician understands your expertise! You also have the freedom to customize your learning environment to match your child’s individual needs. That’s why I’m a big believer in homeschooling for children with learning differences and children who are twice exceptional (gifted and learning disabled or neurodivergent).
I have more than 12 years of experience assessing learning disabilities, ADHD, and autism in homeschooled children and teens. I know a lot about different homeschooling methods, philosophies, and curriculums. My reports are written in plain English and focus on practical information. My recommendations will help you figure out how best to teach your child at home. I will work within your family’s values and find strategies that fit your parenting and homeschooling style.
I’m neurodiversity-affirming, which – put simply – means that I don’t think there is only one “good” kind of brain. Together, we’ll find ways for your child’s unique brain to flourish. If your brain type clashes with your child’s, I can help you navigate the differences – I’ll be on both of your sides.
I am familiar and comfortable with a wide range of parenting and educational styles, including unschooling. My promise to you is that I will approach you without judgment and will work with you to help figure out your best strategies for helping your child.
