Rebecca Wald, Ph.D.

I’m Dr. Rebecca Wald, a licensed psychologist in the state of Maryland. I’m the owner and operator of Minds in Focus.

I’ve been in private practice since 2013, providing psychological assessments and therapy for children, teens, and adults. Beginning with the 2025-26 academic year, I also work as a clinical supervisor at Loyola University of Maryland, teaching graduate students to conduct and interpret their first psychological assessments.

About once a year, I travel to disaster zones with the American Red Cross to provide mental health services to victims of natural or human-caused disasters. This is fast-paced work focused on immediate needs. It provides a nice balance to the deep analysis work I do in my everyday practice!

I have a Ph.D. in Clinical Health Psychology from the University of Iowa, where I learned to work with both adults and children. I moved to Baltimore in 2000 to complete a pre-doctoral internship at the University of Maryland – Baltimore. In the first part of my career, I worked as a clinical researcher for the Department of Medicine and the Department of Psychiatry, doing research related to mental health aspects of physical illness.

I am married and have two daughters aged 17 and 21. In my free time, I enjoy books, tea, board games, singing in the Baltimore Choral Arts Society, and playing trivia.

A smiling white woman with glasses appears in front of the backdrop from the TV show Jeopardy. She wears a red top with black trim.

A fun fact about me: I was a two-day Jeopardy! champion in 2017.
